I’m obsessed with the song “Fire”, by Queen Bee. They used it as the opening for an anime we really enjoyed (Dororo), and my partner and I finally went looking for more work from the artist. It turns out they’ve got a bunch of great music, and they’re a pretty interesting group. They started out by self-publishing their music, and their lead singer, Avu-chan seems to be a non-binary, bi-racial Japanese person, although that’s reading between the lines of their Wikipedia article.
Lots of their stuff is good, but Fire is the song I keep coming back to. Here’s the music video:
And here’s an acoustic version, which has its own, even more interesting music video. I have a pretty unrefined palette when it comes to modern dance, but this was totally enrapturing.
